COVID-19 requirements
Pacific Trailways will always put the health and safety of our staff, tour guests and suppliers first. Best practice Government authorised COVID-19 safety requirements will apply on every tour, trip or activity we offer. To accommodate social distancing requirements, our trips will operate with reduced guest numbers during the period that COVID-19 safety measures are required.
Unguided tracks and hikes:
The tracks and hikes in this activity are not guided. Guests accept that this activity is ‘semi-hosted only’ and hosting only occurs for the boat cruises. No other elements of this activity are hosted or guided and track walks are undertaken as client/s own responsibility.
Tour prices:
Tour prices are in New Zealand dollars including GST and are per person, shared accommodation basis. Single occupancy accommodation is not available.
Deposit:
Bookings are essential and a deposit of $250 per person is required at the time of booking. Payment of the deposit will confirm that you have read and accepted these Booking Terms and Conditions.
Deposit and Full Payment Options:
1. INTERNET BANKING – BNZ Account number 02-0400-0116109-001
Please include – Your name, the tour name and the tour departure date.
2. CREDIT CARD – Visa and Mastercard only.
Full Payment:
Full payment is required no later than 21 days prior to departure. If you are booking less than 21 days from tour departure date, full payment is required at the time of reservation.
Cancellation Charges and Refunds for cancellation by you the customer:
All cancellation charges apply on a per-person basis. For a refund to apply, cancellation must be advised in writing (or by email) and the cancellation notice must be received by us 14 days or more prior to departure. The following cancellation charges will apply:
Cancellation 30 days or more prior to tour activity start date:
Full refund, less $50 administration fee
Cancellation 21 – 15 days prior to tour activity start date: Loss of $250 deposit
Cancellation 14 – 0 days prior to tour activity start date and once the tour activity has commenced: No refund; cancellation fee is the full tour price. No refund can be made once the tour activity is underway and there are no refunds for unused tour components.
Travel Insurance. Pacific Trailways strongly recommends loss of deposit travel insurance, to be bought at time of booking. Cancellation fees cannot be waived in any circumstances where travel insurance may have covered you.
Minimum numbers. A minimum of five participants (or four with a surcharge) is required for the cruise departure to operate.
For cancellation by Pacific Trailways:
In the event the cruise boat becomes unable to operate for any reason before the trip commences, Pacific Trailways and its activity partner will make every effort to secure a suitable alternative vessel. If a suitable alternative cannot be chartered, Pacific Trailways reserves the right to offer either an alternative departure or a full refund.
In the cancellation circumstances described above, a full refund of tour price paid will be the full extent of our responsibility to you the customer. Any additional costs you may incur as a result of cancellation by Pacific Trailways will be your responsibility and we expect you to seek remedy via travel insurance cover.
Further Conditions:
Itinerary amendments. Pacific Trailways and its Cruise and Hike activity partner reserve the right to amend the itinerary if or as necessary due to significant adverse weather and/ or other operational requirements. In the event that weather conditions on a particular day (or days) become unsuitable for safe cruising, Pacific Trailways accepts the professional decision of the cruise boat captain to determine whether or not the cruise should continue. If a ‘no-cruise’ decision is made, the captain will offer guests suitable alternative arrangements, in conjunction with Pacific Trailways.
Luggage on tour – limits per passenger. A suitable multi-night bag that can be stowed sensibly in your cruise boat cabin, plus other smaller items for personal use.
Shared accommodation. All cruise accommodation is ‘shared cabin’ basis. No single occupancy cabins are available. Cabins will be allocated to best suit the mix of your group. Smoking is not permitted in cabins under any circumstances.
Smoking. New Zealand Government laws and regulations forbid smoking in public transport, tour coaches, aircraft, airport terminals, accommodation, restaurants, bars, cafes and other recognised public places.
Personal expenses. Items and/or services not specified as ‘included’ in this activity are deemed to be personal expenses and are not included in your trip price. Items considered to be personal expenses may include but are not limited to scheduled airfares and taxes, accommodation and meals and transport not included in the activity, food not included on the regular tour menu, drinks, personal items, laundry, passport and visa fees, excess baggage, fuel surcharges, optional excursions and gratuities.
Personal belongings and lost items. Valuables on tour should be kept to a minimum and packed in your hand luggage along with personal items such as a camera, phone, small personal appliances, essential changes of clothing, toiletries and other personal items. You are responsible for your personal items at all times and must ensure you have adequate travel insurance cover in the event of any loss.
Health requirements. Payment of the deposit is a warranty by you that you or any persons covered by your booking are sufficiently fit and healthy to undertake the activity and associated travel arrangements. No refund applies if guests are found not to be sufficiently fit and healthy and decide to leave while the trip is still underway. Pacific Trailways is not responsible for any associated travel arrangements or repatriation costs in these circumstances.
Pre and post tour connecting transfers, transport and air travel. Transport and travel before and after your tour are not included in your tour arrangements; these are your responsibility. Pacific Trailways will make every effort to keep your trip to the stated itinerary schedule but is not responsible for any missed connections before or after your tour.
Additional costs. Pacific Trailways is not responsible for any additional costs which may be incurred by tour participants as a result of events beyond the company’s control. Examples may include (but are not limited to) pandemic, strikes, industrial action, weather or any other man-made or natural occurrence.
Tour map. The tour maps are not necessarily to scale. The maps depict an indication of the daily itinerary and route however the actual tour route may vary from the depicted tour route if operational or safety requirements make route changes necessary or desirable.
Illustrations. All photographs on the Pacific Trailways website and the Pacific Trailways Facebook site illustrate and depict genuine events, places, occurrences and experiences. The use of these illustrations and images does not guarantee that such events, places, occurrences and experiences will necessarily be experienced or seen as depicted in the photograph or illustration.
Force Majeure. Force Majeure means an event or circumstance that is beyond the reasonable control of Pacific Trailways Ltd and that could not have been reasonably prevented by Pacific Trailways Ltd. It may include, but is not limited to, pandemic, war, armed conflict, criminal damage, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity or the possibility or threat of any such activity, natural disaster including but not limited to earthquake, volcanic eruption, cyclone, hurricane, tornado, tsunami, flooding, high or low water levels, fire, landslide, adverse weather conditions, nuclear or other industrial accident causing environmental contamination, or any change of law. In the event that Pacific Trailways Ltd cancels or changes your tour arrangements in any way due to a Force Majeure event, Pacific Trailways Ltd will not be liable to refund any part of your tour deposit or tour purchase price paid by you if Pacific Trailways Ltd subsequently changes or cancels your tour arrangements in connection with a Force Majeure event. As such Force Majeure events cannot be predicted and are beyond the control of Pacific Trailways Ltd it is your responsibility to purchase travel insurance that will adequately cover you against these risks.
New Zealand law applies. All Pacific Trailways Booking Terms and Conditions and operations are governed by the laws of New Zealand and all parties submit to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
