UPDATE: 23 MARCH 2022
Following today's Government announcement, Pacific Trailways can advise that vaccine passes will no longer be required from the 5th of April 2022. Pacific Trailways welcomes this announcement.
Meanwhile our tours will resume from mid-May 2022, by which time New Zealand's borders will have reopened to vaccinated visitors from Australia (from 11.59pm 12th of April) and vaccinated visitors from visa waiver countries (from 11.59 pm 1st of May).
UPDATE: 7 MARCH 2022 - Omicron issues
The Omicron 'peak' is indicated to be passing in New Zealand. However with significant covid numbers continuing, Pacific Trailways has regrettably paused our autumn tour programme for now. Tour departures have been rescheduled to operate from mid-May 2022 onwards. While New Zealand-wide travel is technically permitted under the red CPF 'traffic light' period, the Omicron risk remains high for now. If covid symptoms were to show up during a tour, it would be neither practical nor realistic to then stop the whole tour and 'shelter in place' while dealing with the necessary testing and contact isolation requirements that would follow.
Covid cancellation: If Government Covid-19 travel restrictions oblige you to change your tour date, you can transfer your deposit free of charge to another Pacific Trailways tour date of your choice.
New Zealand's border: Subject to vaccination and testing conditions, NZ's border is to reopen in steps from 11.59 pm on the 12th of April 2022 (for Australian visitors) through to the 1st of May 2022 (for visitors from other visa waiver countries) and onwards. Covid self-testing requirements will continue to apply. Be assured that Pacific Trailways will always put the health and safety of our staff, tour guests, suppliers and contractors first. So you can expect us to continue operating our New Zealand travel and tour activities with best practice COVID-19 ‘safety-first’ plans in place, incorporating appropriate and recommended practices into our tours, activities, travel operations and routines.
